Description

Your Year 3 and 4 children will love getting to know the eras through history. This is an introductory course, separated into 2 cycles, so children in mixed classes don’t study the same topics 2 years in a row.

In Cycle A, children get the chance to explore their school grounds or their surrounding areas for home educating families conducting archaeological research! We travel through the Mesozoic era, the Stone Ages, Bronze Age and Iron Age delving into Ancient Crete and Greece and then learning about the Celts. The course then moves into the AD world, finding out about the Romans, Saxons, Normans, Tudors, Georgians and Victorians. As we enter the twentieth century, we study the First World War and finish looking at post-war to today.

Cycle B once again begins with historical study, then looks at palaeontology then the Ice Age. A delve into the Ancient Canaanites and Ancient India is followed by Celtic paganism, then medieval and Stuart England. We then head over to America and learn about the Wild West, back to Europe for the Second World War and end the course by investigating the post-war world and the Cold War.

Children will love the interactive activities, that have been carefully designed (and tested by our own children!) to encourage all pupils to reflect on the issues raised and above all, probe their innate curiosity and love of history.

All our courses are taught in chronological order, and have been designed to provide a logical, whistle stop introduction to global history, and furthermore, provide the foundations for future courses.

This course is also suitable for children in years 5 and 6 who have never studied an Adventure Through History course.
